Silent Paprika Films wins Urpo anti-ad comptetition

Last sunday we went up on stage to receive the Grand Prize and Audience Award for the Urpo anti alcohol ad competition.
The competition was held in conjunction with the Uneton48 film competition where we also entered. There we made it to the final top 10 and were nominated for best cinematography and best sound design/music.

Once again we have made it to the top 10 (actually 15 this time) and we've also had the honor of being nominated for best cinematography and sound design aswell.

We've done a few music videos during the summer that we haven't featured here yet, so here they are:

1. The Leopards - Down that line

Easily one of the best shoots we've ever had, it was a great summer day just driving around in a hot rod :P

2. Booka Shade - Teenage Spaceman (Unoffical)

Made again for a competition in genero.tv and eventhough we didn't win, we're pretty fckn happy of this one!

3. Masterstroke - Walls of my Temple

This one we had some problems with, mostly because of bad props and inadequate lights (chinese lights that we ordered blew up one after another) but we managed anyway...

Sisäpiiri is on the final!

Our film "Sisäpiiri" which was done in the Finnish 48-hour film competition made it to the top-10 finalists! The film competition is over and the marketing competition starts as the winner is chosen by the public. If we win, we will use the prize money to make a feature film.

Our neverending project (which we finished in the end of 2009) is now available on youtube:

Tie - Some Kind of a Road Movie

It doesn't have english subtitles yet, but they are on the making and we'll inform you when they are done.
Tie was made without a script in three years. The making was an interesting experince at the least, hopefuly it's an entertaining watching experince aswell.

Stuff in the making 2010

1. Roots - travel skate documentary, still in post-production - see teaser
2. Masterstroke "Walls of my Temple" - Music video, halfway shot.
3. "Matkalla" - Jannes short for Taik, some scenes shot.
4. Unissakävelijä - Sami is dop in Tuomas Parviainen's short, stuck in pre-production.
5. Untitled project with Olli Ylinen, the director of "Korkein Oikeus" - in pre-production
6. Hmm... a FEATURE.

+ lots of tv and internet-video stuff with other production companies...

History continued,

Sami went on to set up a company in Helsinki with her girlfriend Henna with the name Silent Paprika Films.
Last year they shot a skateboard/travel documentary Roots in Europe, a christmas themed short film Kolme Joulua with some new producers aswell and of course they've been involved in a dozen of other projects with other companies.

A bit of history:
Sami, Tuomas & Iiro were studying film & tv-work in a pretty low-level school back in Heinola
While there, they made a variety of short films ranging from quite awful to okay. The biggest effort was a 30min drama/war short called "Evil in Men"
After school the trio split to Lahti and Helsinki around 2008.
